Throughout this document the use of the term client is intended to include individuals and groups such as patients, consumers, workers, students, children, and others who receive occupational therapy services.

Statement of Target Audience

This tool is designed for the COTA® who currently works - or plans to work - in a setting assisting the OTR® in providing services to clients who have orthopedic conditions which impact the clients’ engagement in areas of occupation. Orthopedic conditions include but are not limited to soft tissue and bone pathologies secondary to orthopedic trauma or disease such as: fractures, musculotendinous injuries, ligamentous injuries, soft tissue pathology, amputations, arthritis, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and congenital anomalies.
